Helping a Loved One Get Treatment for Oxycodone Addiction
If you have a loved one whose life is slowly spiraling out of control due to their OxyContin addiction, you are likely facing conflicting emotions. One minute you may be consumed with fear and worry about their wellbeing, while the next you are faced with all-consuming anger about what they are doing to themselves. You know that your loved one needs your help to get clean, but you may not know how to approach the situation. There may have been a time where you tried to help them and your attempt failed. Here are some tips for guiding your loved one into treatment for Oxy addiction:
Educate yourself: Take the time to educate yourself about OxyContin, the symptoms of oxy abuse, and the long-term effects of this drug. Additionally, learn all that you can about substance abuse and addiction. Addiction is a very complex disease and taking the time to learn about can help you relate better to your loved one and what they are going through. This can help you realize that they are not doing this on purpose to upset you, but are stuck in a vicious cycle they can’t break free from. Attend a local N.A. meeting near Charlotte and Lancaster so you can see what life as an addict looks like, and gain clarity about addiction from a loved one’s point of view.
Research rehab centers: There are many different types of addiction treatment centers that offer a wide variety of effective treatment approaches for substance abuse and addiction. By taking the time to research the different treatment centers, you can find a treatment center that fits your loved one’s needs. If you believe that your loved one has become physically dependent upon Oxy, ensure that rehab center you look at also offer detox.
Approach your loved one: When you have educated yourself about addiction and are ready to approach your loved one about their OxyContin problem, it’s important to let them know how much you care about them and that you are seriously concerned about them. Let them know all of the wonderful things that can come out of seeking rehab at a treatment center and how great it can be to live a life free from drugs. While you are speaking to them make sure that you truly listen
Why Consider Treatment
Why Consider Inpatient Treatment for Oxycodone Addiction at Rebound Behavioral Health
Prolonged OxyContin abuse will seriously impact all areas of an addict’s life, so that life will consist of obtaining and using Oxy. Your work ethic will slowly decline or you may have been fired. The more your behavior changes, the more it will affect your relationships with your friends and family, until you slowly become socially withdrawn and isolated. You may be facing a number of legal problems as you’ve resorted to stealing or other illegal activity to obtain drugs. Additionally, your physical health may decline, putting your life in risk. Without proper treatment and support, your problems will continue to get worse.
An inpatient program that specializes in addiction treatment and recovery centered on a 12-step model of addiction has been shown to be one of the most effective ways for those struggling with Oxy addiction to achieve sobriety. An inpatient program allows you to escape the pressures of everyday life so you can place all of your focus on recovery. Through a variety of therapeutic approaches you will learn how to manage triggers, cope with stress, and prevent relapse. Additionally, for individuals that are physically dependent on Oxy, an inpatient program can provide a medically-monitored detoxification process.

Treatment Methods
Types of Oxycodone Addiction Treatment Offered at Rebound Behavioral Health
The rehab offered at our treatment center for OxyContin abuse is a combination of medication management and psychotherapy approaches. Our treatment experts collaborate with each client in order to identify specific concerns and help develop a plan that allow each client to reach their recovery goals. Within 72 hours of arriving at Rebound, you will undergo a number of assessments that will give us better insight into the most appropriate level of care. The assessments will tell us your level of addiction, the presence of medical conditions, additional drugs in your system, and any co-occurring disorders. We will take the results of these evaluations and work to create a treatment plan specifically for you.
Detox may be the first step in your treatment plan if you come to us physically dependent upon Oxy. Through the detoxification process, we will safely and effectively rid your body of any drugs or alcohol as quickly as possible. Our detox is medically-monitored and delivered in the most humane way, to ensure your safety and alleviate some of the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Medications may be used during detox to control any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and may also be used in the beginning of treatment until individuals develop better coping strategies. Eventually most individuals are able to be weaned off of any medication. Others may need long-term medication management to address co-occurring, dual-diagnosis mental health conditions. Medication will be consistently monitored and adjusted as needed.
Individual therapy is provided at least once per week and more often as needed. During individual therapy, you will work directly with a therapist who is trained in a number of approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy. These sessions will allow you to express the problems your addiction has caused in your life as well as determine possible solutions. Additionally, this can be used to get to the underlying cause for the abuse of OxyContin.
Group therapy is one of the most vital parts of addiction recovery and is held multiple times a day, covering a wide range of topics. Through 12-step groups, process-based, and psychoeducational groups during rehab, you will have the chance to bond with and work alongside other people struggling with addiction.
Family therapy is important for recovering addicts as it allows you the chance to come together and work through any issues that may have come about as a result of the addiction. Family members will have the opportunity to share their emotions surrounding your addiction and how it has affected their lives. We will hold Sunday sessions at our treatment center intended to educate your loved ones about addiction, let them express ways that addiction has impacted their lives, and provide any referrals for community resources around Charlotte and Lancaster such as Nar-Anon to allow for their healing.
